What is Cypox compatible with?
Cypox is compatible with all materials, except low-grade recycled plastics and delicate foams. The compatible materials include metals, cast, white and pot metal, wood, particle board, paper, chipboard, cork, carton, masonry products, marble, ceramics, bisque, porcelain, glass, rubber, vinyl, PVC, ABS, polyolefin’s, butyrate’s, styrene’s, laminates, lexan, linoleum, acrylics, polycarbonates, fiberglass, Kevlar, composites, synthetic leather, leather, and textiles. Materials can be bonded to themselves or each other. Cypox Bonder 101 can also be mixed with particulates (sawdust, baking soda, etc.) to form a paste.
What is the shelf life/best storage for Cypox?
The Cypox Bonder 101 is the only component with a shelf life, which is 1-2 years. If not used frequently, store it in the refrigerator or in a cool, dark place.
What are the temperature thresholds?
@-30 F to @260 F.
When and how will my product ship?
Orders are shipped every Wednesday and Friday, and will arrive by ground (UPS, USPS Parcel Post and First Class Mail). The Cypox Bonder 101 is the only component that may be shipped by air (USPS Priority Mail or UPS Next Day).
Do the nozzles/micro-needle applicators clog and how are they cleaned?
Yes, they will on the Cypox Bonder 101. There are two safeguards - one is the pin inside the cap which helps keep the Bonder clear. If it does clog, you may soak the cap and nozzle/micro-needle applicators in a small container of acetone (available in the 'paint thinner' section at the hardware store) or finger nail polish remover (containing acetone) for 2-3 days to clean them. Each Cypox Bonding System contains an extra Cap & Nozzle Assembly (Item CN-1).
Do you need to use the Activator?
Without using the Activator, you will get the results of a standard super glue or epoxy. The Activator not only instantly cures the Bonder, it chemically produces a stronger, permanent bond that will not peel away and is able to withstand sheer and tensile strength tests.
Will the Activator harm painted or normal surfaces?
If applied properly with a light mist, excess Activator will evaporate upon contact. However, on clear styrene, it has a tendency to craze or fog the surface. This can be avoided by spot-activating with a q-tip, toothpick, or brush cap (Item BC-1).
What is the open time before putting materials together?
Generally the amount of Cypox Bonder 101 will determine the amount of time from applying the Bonder to putting materials together. You will have at least 1-5 minutes. Activator can still work if the Bonder is tacky or liquid.
How much working time do I have when putting materials together?
It depends somewhat on the materials you are working with. Some are more porous than others. Generally, once pressure is applied to the materials being joined, the bond is initiated and it’s too late to re-adjust. However, you are able to spread the Bonder and align your materials, just be certain to avoid adding pressure until your materials are correctly in place.
Does Cypox work on "slippery" plastic?
Yes. This system has been developed for use on all types of plastics. It is the only viable solution (besides a plastic welder) for use on materials such as UHMW, Delrin®, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Nylon, Teflon®, ABS. You will find these high density plastics in the form of children’s toys, car dashboards and bumpers, appliances, tools, electronics, etc. Success with bonding these plastics is achieved with using our Plastic Primer 302 to prepare the surface before applying the Bonder and Activator.
What if my Cypox isn’t working up to my expectations?
The system and components are completely guaranteed. We ask that you first contact us to ensure that you are using it properly. We can usually help you right over the phone. After speaking with us, if you are still not satisfied, you may return it to us for a full refund, along with the cost of the shipping to send it to us.
Do you ship outside the U.S.A.?
Only Canada. The reason is that most of products (except Cypox Bonder 101) may not ship by air, so that limits us to the continental USA and Canada. Please contact us for more details and shipping rate.
Does the Bonder create toxic fumes?
No. To our knowledge this product does not create any toxic fumes. If you have a specific application in mind, please contact us and we can advise the best way to proceed.
